Previous roles include marketing, CSR and fundraising at organisations such as Voluntary Action Councils, The Mental Health Foundation, The Body Shop and Bauer Media. Mum to two brilliant boys and Hackney School Governor.

Claire is passionate about young people having a space where they feel heard and supported. She developed a real interest in mental health after volunteering with The Mix. In Claire's spare time she likes spending time with her family and watching reality TV.

It's Sian's job to support The Mix's incredible volunteers on the Helpline. Sian feels passionately about the power of a listening ear and believes that absolutely nobody deserves to feel alone. Sian's hobbies include letter-writing, hearty vegan cooking, hiking, and long chats with pals over tea/wine!

Brianna is Helpline Coordinator at the Mix. When she's not working, she's meeting clients as a counsellor trainee, doing yoga or walking by the lake with her partner. She enjoys a good fantasy or romance book. Some of her favourite shows are Game of Thrones and Parks & Recreation.

Joe is passionate about supporting young people to keep themselves safe and to have their voices heard on safeguarding practices. In his downtime, Joe is a massive geek (RPGs, games and comics), but is also equally happy in wild space chancing on butterflies.

Theodora has worked in the charity sector for 12 years. She is passionate about recognising the impact volunteers make, and ensuring they have a positive and fulfilling experience. She is a huge football fan and spends most weekends either frustrated or overjoyed by her team’s performance.

I've always believed that counselling makes our world a more welcoming place for every person; providing a safe space in times of distress or difficulty whilst offering an opportunity for gaining a greater understanding of ourselves and others. I'm also passionate about cooking, basketball and road trips.

Lauren is a passionate mental health and disability activist who hopes to open her own charity combining her love for creative arts and youth participation. When she's not bringing in new counsellors, or teaching people how to use Salesforce, you’ll find Lauren playing Sims 4 or dancing to Kylie Minogue.

For over a decade, Italia has been a passionate advocate for youth voice and continues to champion young people in every area at The Mix. In her downtime, you can find this Kiwi exploring London and trying to find the perfect flat white.

Amy has worked in Marketing & PR for over 15 years. She is passionate about bringing creative ideas to life to help make a difference to as many young people as possible. Mum to two amazing young people of her own, you can often find Amy cooking, eating, crafting and travelling in her downtime.

Tom has been working with young people for over 10 years, and in the mental health sector for 5. His passions lie in crafting content that represent various communities and hopefully makes the world a brighter place. He loves keeping fit, watching movies and cheese.

Britt is passionate about all things social and has been in the industry for over 7 years. Being new to the charity sector, she finds helping young people through content extremely rewarding and loves learning through The Mix. Britt loves travel, music and cooking.

Mike has been involved with The Mix’s online community in different ways for years. He’s a massive film and video game geek, and can give you the episode title for pretty much any modern Doctor Who quote.

Gemma has an interest in early intervention and improving outcomes for young people. She joined The Mix in 2018 as a helpline volunteer and now leads the delivery of our online community. You’ll also find her volunteering, going to gigs (mainly Ed Sheeran), and supporting Liverpool.

Bohdana is passionate about understanding and helping to change society. She collects and analyses our data to help us evaluate and improve our services. She has a great passion for gardening, garden design, hiking and running.

Emma is passionate about supporting young people and investing in their futures. She believes that listening to young people and using data for good are two really important ways for charities to keep learning, improving and providing great services. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking and gardening.

Emily makes things look good and is passionate about making a positive impact for young people through her designs. Emily was inspired to begin illustrating as part of her eating disorder recovery. She loves bagels, music and activism.

Marcin can make (pretty much) any code dance. Some of us suspect that he can see the world in binary - just like Neo from the matrix (Hang on... maybe he is Neo from the matrix?).

Pjeter oversees all operations at The Mix and ensures that all employees have the right tools to carry out their jobs effectively. A previous civil servant and diehard coffee aficionado, Pjeter loves learning and balances his personal time between studying business and being a #1 dad.

Andrew Harrison

Chair of Trustees for MHI

Andrew graduated from the University of Leeds with a BA (Hons) in Management Studies in 1992 and is currently a partner at Freston Road Ventures, which invests in consumer brands that challenge the status quo. He chairs a number of the investments, including Purplebricks, and advises and works with others such as Five Guys. Andrew previously served as Chair of Carphone Warehouse Ltd and was formerly Group CEO of Carphone Warehouse Group PLC before its merger which he led with Dixons Group plc. Andrew has an extensive background in leadership and governance and brings a wealth of strategic knowledge and corporate governance expertise.

Edward Wray co-founded Betfair in 1999 and was its first Chief Executive. He set up the business in Australia, and became Chairman in 2006. Betfair floated on the London Stock Exchange in October 2010, valued at £1.4bn. Edward stepped down from his role as Chairman of Betfair in 2012, and currently holds Directorships at LMAX Limited (the world's leading exchange for FX), and Prodigy Finance. He is also Chair of the Coach Core Foundation.

Helen Hopper

Helen Hopper trained in management consultancy with Accenture, and in occupational psychology with SHL, before co-founding leadership consulting firm h3 in 2010, where she is a Partner. h3’s mission is to stimulate growth through learning and Helen pursues this with individuals, teams and organisations as a coach and facilitator. She specialises in developing senior teams across the public, private and third sectors. Helen has degrees in Politics, Philosophy and Economics (Oxford University), and in Psychology (The Open University). She is an active supporter of mental health charities, most recently as COO of The Listening Place, and Trustee at The Mix. Helen is co-author of  The Secret Life of Boards: The Art and Psychology of Board Relationships.

James is an entrepreneurial leader who wears many hats at the intersection of business and society, commerce and culture. A former VP at MTV, his board experience began in 2006 with nine years on the council for the Institute of Contemporary Art. At the same time, he became a founding patron and, since 2013, Chair of Trustees for Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM). Since 2010 he has been a trustee of YouthNet which became The Mix. Today, he is also founder of New Working Class (Life Skills provider), co-founder of Humanness (human-first business transformation), chair of One Question (advisory network), and visiting lecturer at the University of Roehampton.

Dr Jean O’Hara

Dr Jean O'Hara FRCPsych grew up in Hong Kong. She came to London to study medicine, and qualified as a doctor in 1983, and as a psychiatrist in 1988. Her work focussed on mental health and inequalities for people from marginalised communities especially those with intellectual disabilities, autism and BAME backgrounds.  Jean was clinical director at South London and the Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre (2008-2017) where she led an innovative service model bringing together forensic, autism, ADHD and intellectual disability community and inpatient services across South East London.

Michael is a Children and Families Social Worker working within London. As a care leaver, Michael has championed systemic improvements to better address the needs of vulnerable children and families. Michael is passionate about addressing the root causes of mental health challenges to create lasting change in communities. Michael is also the Chair of the Youth Advisory Board for The Mix.

Peter Fonagy, PhD, FMedSci, FBA, FAcSS, OBE, Professor of Contemporary Psychoanalysis and Developmental Science and Head of the Division of Psychology and Language Sciences at UCL; Executive Clinical Director, Mental Health and Wellbeing Programme, UCLPartners; Chief Executive of The Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families, and Senior Clinical Advisor on Children’s Mental Health, NHS England. His clinical and research interests centre on issues of early attachment relationships, social cognition, borderline personality disorder and violence. A major focus of his contribution has been an innovative research-based psychodynamic therapeutic approach, mentalization-based treatment, which was developed in collaboration with a number of clinical sites in the UK and USA.

Vik is the Director of Education at Bristol City Council. He is a highly experienced and passionate leader in children’s services, having transformed and led high-performing services in local government and education. Vik has held significant roles in the public sector, including Director of Children’s Services in the London Borough of Newham, Director of Education in Dorset Council and senior roles in Westminster City Council. Prior to this, he was a member of the executive team at one of the largest academy trusts in the country, Lift Schools, for five years and has held several advisory roles with academy trusts and charities.

Simon Weaver is a partner at KPMG UK. Simon is a chartered accountant and has been auditing and advising a broad range of listed companies for the last 13 years.

Fatima wants to empower young people to speak and lead themselves. As a policy officer with a focus on strategy, she is keen to implement solutions to amplify young people's voices across The Mix. Fatima's hobbies include binging shows, scrolling TikTok, reading dystopian novels and shopping.

Henry is a Deaflympican (DLY) and a former decorated Australian Captain having represented Australia on three occasions. He made his dream to Loughborough to represent UK in future competitions. Outside the pool, he is a huge social advocate representing a few charities for many causes.

Zara is a second-year Sociology student at Durham University. She is passionate about mental health advocacy and empowering queer youth in particular. Zara volunteers with various charities and organisations, aspiring to become a clinical psychologist.

As an actor and facilitator, Amelia brings a creative viewpoint and a people centred approach. She is deeply committed to promoting youth mental health through innovative and inclusive approaches. She is currently studying a Master of Research and volunteering for SHOUT UK.

Martyn is the Founder and of YouthNet (now The Mix) and spent nearly 20 years as Chair. He is now Founder-at-Large. Over 32 years as a TV journalist, he presented every mainstream national news programme on BBC and ITV, before moving into business.
